Class size is extremely limited, so be sure to register early. The deadline for registering is April 30th.  Late registrations accepted with an additional $25 fee, as space allows.

Just in time for the spring/summer birthing season!  Come join us for a day of valuable birthing information with a hands-on Neonatal Clinic.  The Lecture will cover breeding, reproductive management, birthing and neonatal care.  The wet lab, using donated dead crias in uterine simulators, will give breeders hands-on experience at how to identify and correct dystocias.  The class will divide into two groups to go into the labs, making for smaller lab groups.  During the Lab times, an additional seminar will be offered to the group not in the lab on “Treating your Alpaca Business, as a Business.”  Jeff Kressin, owner of Alpacas of Ohio, LLC and various other small businesses, will give tips and tricks on the business side of running an alpaca farm, including the “Hows and Whys” of incorporating, protecting yourself in these “lawsuit happy” times, record keeping, marketing, customer service, and a question and answer session.

Dr. Cheryl W. DeWitt,DVM is the co-owner of Camelid Veterinary Services and resident veterinarian at Llama Nation farm in Bluffton, Ohio. An award winning graphic designer turned veterinarian, she attended North Carolina State University for graduate studies, and then relocated to Ohio to work in camelid medicine with Dr. Toni Cotton. She and her husband Eric (“Llamafeeder”) have worked with and owned camelids for over 10 years. In 2006, Cheryl bought Camelid Veterinary Services with P. Walter Bravo, DVM, who literally “wrote the book” on camelid reproductive care.  Cheryl has taught neonatal clinics all around the country, and has recently returned from Peru where she participated in a University of Massachusetts research trip working with vicuna.

Jeff Kressin is an accomplished entrepreneur with many years of experience in starting and running small businesses.  Jeff has started and owned numerous businesses over the past 15 years including an Information Technology consulting firm, several Franchises, an aircraft flight school, and others.   He was named one of Cleveland’s “40 under 40” by Crain’s Cleveland Business, recognizing him as a top Cleveland area business entrepreneur.  Jeff started his career as a member of the United States Air Force where he still serves today as an Officer in the Air Force Reserves.  Additionally he has several years of experience as a manager with Fortune 500 firms.  Today Jeff still owns and operates four small enterprises.  Jeff has experience with start-up, sales, marketing, business planning, mergers, acquisitions, Venture Capital Firms, lawsuits and litigation, personal asset protection, and more.
