Alpaca Tip — Get yourself a good
barn cat. They not only keep the barn free of mice, they also
discourage raccoon and other small animals from coming into the
area, as they don’t want to mess with a cat.

About
Alpacas of Ohio

Welcome to
Alpacas of Ohio! We truly have a family farm, as we have
3 generations tending our alpacas. We selectively breed
for the best quality, and have had quite a bit of
success in the show ring. All of our animals are either
show quality or throw show quality! We have some very
well known bloodlines: PPPeruvian Yupanqui, PPPeruvian
Royal Fawn, 4Peruvian Matador, Pendragon of Peru, My
Peruvian Rolex, Accoyo El Rey, PPPeruvian Dracula,
CPeruvian Silvino, Shaquille, 5Peruvian Cappuccino, Accipiter, PPPeruvian Don Juan....and many more! Each alpaca is
given the best of care and lots of personalized
attention - resulting in healthy, good natured animals.
We are a small farm and intend to stay that way in order
to give individual attention to each alpaca on the farm.
Come and visit, we would love to show you our alpaca
family!
If someone would have told us ten
years ago that in the future, we would be raising
alpacas - our first question would have been, “What are
alpacas?,” and our second, “Are you crazy?” We were
busy entrepreneurs trying to stay ahead of both our
employees and clients in the fast paced IT (Information
Technology) world. We owned a computer network
consulting company and didn’t have time to breathe, let
alone take care of anything other than our children. We
were running 100 mph chasing a dream and getting back
stress from employees, clients, and life in general.
By coincidence I drove by an alpaca farm
and that same night saw a TV show on them. We decided
to investigate – we thought at least they could mow a
couple acres for us - and we found a business
opportunity that was too good to pass up. Jeff’s
parents decided to join us in our new adventure, and
Alpacas of Ohio was born.
In choosing our starter herd, we decided
to go with the best quality alpacas we could afford. We
bought one pregnant older female, 3 maidens, one female
having her first cria, and ½ ownership in a stud male.
From that we have grown to a farm of 17 - 7 pregnant
females, 2 maidens, 4 ribbon winning Jr. herdsires, 3 up
and coming Jr. herdsires and
our stud male. We love to go to shows, and have come
back with quite a few ribbons, many of them blue, which
definitely has boosted our confidence! This summer has
brought many new cria - look for them in the show rings
next spring! What fun this has been!
People who knew us in our “other” life
are surprised by the direction that we decided to go.
But those who come and visit our farm and experience the
alpacas for themselves know how wonderful this lifestyle
really is. We are lucky to have found it.
